A weekly current affairs programme presented by Neil Billington. “For Joe Bjelke-Petersen, the Fitzgerald Inquiry into corruption in Queensland turned into a witch hunt. Fitzgerald released his report this past week. He didn’t name names, but Court action is expected against some of Queensland’s top police and politicians. Our reporter Ross Stevens talked to Sir Joe at his Kingaroy home in Queensland yesterday.

“There are risks that go with every job. But losing your hand, an arm or an eye is not supposed to be one of them. Last year there were at least 50,000 New Zealanders, probably more, who were injured in the work place. At the end of this year, it’ll be compulsory for employers to adopt a code of practice as a measure aimed at cutting down on industrial accidents. But will that be enough? As Linda Clark reports, whether safety precautions are enforced or not by law, an appalling record of work place injuries demands a rethink of the security a job is supposed to provide.”
