Empire Games - ATHLETES FOR VANCOUVER
New Zealand athletes preparing for the Vancouver Empire Games include: NSW Title Holders, the Auckland Westend Fours and Don Rowlands also a NSW Champion and for 2 years running New Zealand’s singles sculls title holder; weightlifter [Harold Clegborne], Empire heavy weight champion; 20 year old Murray Halberg, NZ’s hope for the 4 mile; high jumpers Noelene Swinton and 16 year old Murray Jefferies being coached by Captain Frank Sharpley; Yvette Williams Olympic and world champion long jump athlete.

A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DOG
After reading an advertisement in a local Wellington paper, a woman takes her pet dog Pip along for the interview. Pip wins the part in the stage play ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’.

FRIENDS OF THE CHILDREN
In Rotorua at Queen Elizabeth Hospital specialists from New Zealand, Australia and Great Britain are working together on a problem and a plan to help children with cerebral palsy. Physiotherapist Hilda Skerr of Great Britain is shown around the unit by Physiotherapist Pauline Pole of Rotorua. Australian occupational therapist Margaret Dickinson is seen working with the children. Other learning and daily activities are a priority for the children. A visit to Waka where Guide Rangi speaks to the children and a look around the airport are highlights for the children during their outings.
