A 12 part series in which a 21st century New Zealand family from Owaka, Ross, Ross Junior, Dorothy, Emma, Ian and Neil Hutton are transported back in time to the year 1852 to experience life as early settlers, involving an immigrant sea journey and living for three months in a house built to the exact specifications of the era without electricity, modern conveniences or clothes, tonight the family plan a dinner party and Ross builds a brick oven and cookhouse.
