A documentary profile on the notable New Zealander Nola Luxford, now living in the United States. Nola's life has included many careers, a star of Hollywood's silent screen, a leading stage actress, a journalist, and broadcaster. For 40 years Nola contributed a regular column "News from America" for the New Zealand Free Lance. But it is for her hospitality to the young Australian and New Zealand servicemen on leave in New York on their way to the European front that she is most fondly remembered by New Zealanders. A campaigner for international peace all her life, she has actively promoted good relations between America and New Zealand and openly criticised Americans nuclear arms policy.
