Pou Ārahi – Deputy Chief Executive, Māori
Paul Meredith is of Ngāti Maniapoto and Pākehā descent. He has over 25 years of experience in kaupapa Māori activity. He has researched and published in the areas of tikanga Māori, Māori identity, Māori history, and Treaty claims, with a particular focus on te reo Māori archival sources. Paul has also built up an extensive network across iwi and other Māori organisations. As the Pou Ārahi, Paul leads our work to engage with iwi and Māori and reconnect them with their taonga. He provides an active Māori voice and strategic Māori leadership across the organisation to ensure our daily business activities and, in particular, our care of the Taonga Māori collections reflects whakaaro Māori.
