Some items from the collection can be viewed in person by visiting us.

Access the online collection

Our online collection can be accessed in-person at the Ngā Taonga desk in the General Reading Room on Level 1 of the National Library, 70 Molesworth Street, Thorndon, Wellington. No appointments are needed. Nau mai, all are welcome.

Here you can access or find information about over 800,000 items from the moving image and sound collection free of charge.

Opening hours

10am to 5pm Monday to Friday.
9am to 1pm Saturday.

Access items not available online

If you find that the item you are interested in is not available online, our researchers can be contacted using the Ngā Taonga internal phone located on our desk at the National Library, or via our Make a request page.

Katherine Mansfield Reading Room

Ngā Taonga can also arrange an appointment for a viewing in the Katherine Mansfield Reading Room. We do ask that viewing requests are made a few days in advance as materials may need to be retrieved from our vaults.

The Katherine Mansfield Room is located on Level 1 of the National Library building at 70 Molesworth Street, Thorndon, Wellington 6011.
